Grant Application deadline is October 8, 2010 The AIDS Fund is a community partnership of the National AIDS Fund, and is one of a growing network of community partnerships across the country. The AIDS Fund supports regional HIV/AIDS advocacy, prevention, education and support services through fundraising and grantmaking. The service area includes the South Central PA counties of Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, Lancaster, Perry and York. As a community partnership, the Fund leverages dollars raised locally with a 50% Challenge Grant match from the National AIDS Fund. This creates a pool of funds available for grants to nonprofit organizations in the region that provide programs and services to persons living with HIV/AIDS. The Fund hosts an annual signature fundraising event, the annual AIDS Honoree Luncheon, in recognition of World AIDS Day during the first week in December. The event honors an individual and corporate champion committed to raising awareness of the epidemic. To date, the AIDS Fund has granted nearly $1.5 million to AIDS service organizations. As the only regional funder solely designated to provide support for HIV/AIDS programs, the Fund fills a critical gap to provide funding that might otherwise be unavailable. In 2009, the AIDS Fund of South Central PA granted $54,500 to the following agencies: | AIDS Community Alliance | Men4Men HIV prevention program | | Catholic Charities Hope House | Personal care residential program for persons living with HIV/AIDS | | Hamilton Health Center/HOPE Program | “Learning for Life” HIV/AIDS, STI, and substance abuse prevention education program for students in Dauphin County | | Planned Parenthood of Central PA | Community education program in York and Franklin counties | | Positive Opportunities, Inc. | “Linkage to HIV Care from Prison & Jail to the Community” program | | The PROGRAM for Female Offenders | HIV/AIDS Risk Reduction Service Project serving women age 14-59 in the criminal justice system and/or with a history of substance abuse | To learn more about the AIDS Fund of South Central PA, to volunteer, make a gift, or apply for a grant, please visit www.tfec.org. |
