Non-profit 501 (c)(3) organizations may apply for discretionary funds through a competitive grant process. Grant requests are reviewed by the Foundation's Grantmaking Committee with input and recommendations from Program Staff. Note: The Foundation does not recommend that organizations apply for grants in consecutive cycles. ** The Greater Harrisburg Foundation currently makes grants throughout the year from the Ben Franklin Fund, which benefits organizations in Juniata County in addition to our five-county service area. Applications to this Fund are accepted on the standard grantmaking cycle. Step One: Review the grantmaking guidelines for each regional foundation (including: Greater Harrisburg Foundation, Mechanicsburg Area Foundation, Franklin County Foundation, Perry County Community Foundation, Camp Hill Community Foundation, and Dillsburg Area Foundation, AIDS Fund, Whitaker Foundation Regional Program) or special initiatives of the Foundation, Marty Sacks, the Kids Trust, Family and Children Services of Lebanon County, and the Women’s Fund). These are posted either on the home page or in the individual sections “Regional Foundations ” or “Special Initiatives ” up to 8 weeks before grant applications are due. Step Two: Contact the Program Officer to determine your eligibility to apply and to discuss your proposal. Step Three: Submit a Grant Application according the guidelines provided. Please follow the directions carefully and use the forms provided. If you have questions about the guidelines or how to complete your application packet, contact The Foundation Program Officer. Please ensure that all requested materials are submitted with the grant proposal! As a rule, the Grantmaking Committee makes its decision to fund based on the information provided in the applicant‘s written material. At its discretion, the Committee may conduct a site visit, request additional information about your proposal, or defer your request to another grant cycle.
For a comprehensive list of the previous year’s funded agencies and grant awards, please refer to the individual regional foundations or special initiatives of the Foundation. | Availability of Technical Assistance | The Program Officer will provide technical assistance in helping you prepare your grant application. A review of your draft documents can be submitted by email and other questions related to the project, budget or other grant related matters, or questions can be discussed by telephone prior to the due date. These requests should be limited to two reviews before finalizing your proposals. Staff will NOT be able to honor technical assistance requests made later than one week prior to the grant submission deadline. No corrections, additions or revisions to your proposal will be accepted at any time after the due date. The Foundation also provides debriefing on proposals that were not funded. Please direct any questions you may have regarding grantmaking to Jennifer Doyle, Program Officer, at 717-236-5040 or email jdoyle@tfec.org. |
