David M. Kleppinger Family Scholarship Fund

The David M. Kleppinger Family Scholarship Fund wishes to offer a scholarship to a graduate of Hershey High School in Hershey, Pennsylvania or Emmaus High School in Emmaus, Pennsylvania who will attend Penn State Main Campus in State College, Pennsylvania or Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida as a full-time student and who plans to study political science, pre-law, finance, nursing, or general liberal arts. 

The David M. Kleppinger Family Scholarship Fund will be revoked if the recipient participates in any activity which results in the destruction of property or causes personal injury; is convicted of illegal drug usage or any felony; or is placed on academic or social probation or the equivalent thereof by the school attended.

Criteria

  1. Graduating seniors of Hershey High School or Emmaus High School 
  2. Plans to attend Penn State Main Campus in State College, Pennsylvania or Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida as a full-time student 
  3. Plans to study political science, pre-law, finance, nursing, or general liberal arts 
  4. Academic achievement in high school 
  5. Community involvement 
  6. Citizenship 
  7. Financial need 
  8. Applicants may be asked to interview with representatives of the David M. Kleppinger Family Scholarship Fund advisory committee. 
  9. Essay
  10. Supplemental documents. This may include a resume, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), or other scholarship-specific documents. Specific requirements are noted in the application.

Essay

Answer the following question, “What brought me to decide to study my major at this institution?” 300 words maximum.

Renewability

Recipients of this scholarship may apply again for any subsequent year. Students must submit a full application but may be prompted to complete a different essay.
