Gordon B. and Josephine Hewlett Memorial Scholarship

The Gordon B. and Josephine Hewlett Memorial Scholarship assists Franklin county students who wish to pursue college degrees in nursing. The primary purpose of this scholarship is to assist undergraduate students, but in the absence of qualified applicants, the scholarship may go to graduate students. The scholarship was established in 1999 by the children of Gordon B. and Josephine Hewlett as a memorial to their parents. 

This scholarship is a fund of the Franklin County Community Foundation, a regional foundation of TFEC.

Criteria

  1. Resident of Franklin County 
  2. Desire to pursue a degree in nursing 
  3. Academic achievement, including a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale 
  4. Extracurricular activities (sports, organizations, clubs, etc.) 
  5. Service to the community (volunteering) 
  6. Financial need 
  7. Essay
  8. Supplemental documents. This may include a resume, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), or other scholarship-specific documents. Specific requirements are noted in the application.

Explain your commitment to nursing and your career goals. 300 words maximum.

Renewability

Recipients of this scholarship may reapply for consecutive years. Students must submit a full application but may be prompted to complete a different essay
