Joseph T. Simpson Memorial Scholarship Fund

Joseph T. Simpson led the transformation of Harrisburg Steel Corporation into the world-wide corporation known as HARSCO, which established this scholarship fund for disadvantaged youth through the Boys & Girls Club of Central PA.  This scholarship will award to students involved with the Boys and Girls Club of Harrisburg.

Scholarship FAQ

Criteria

  1. Must be a graduating senior and had been involved with the Boys and Girls Club of Harrisburg for several years  
  2. Is attending an institution of higher education either full or part-time, for up to 120 credit hours or the equivalent undergraduate degree or  
  3. Is attending an accredited trade school or accredited technical school   
  4. Financial need 
  5. Essay
  6. Supplemental documents. This may include a resume, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), or other scholarship-specific documents. Specific requirements are noted in the application.

Essay

Describing how the applicant is preparing for their life goals. Essay should be titled, 300 words maximum. 

Renewability

This scholarship will automatically renew for up to 4 years provided the recipient maintain a B average.

Students must submit their transcript and tuition bill EACH SEMESTER for renewal of the award.

Should the GPA requirement not be met, the student will be placed on probation. Failure to regain the required GPA after one academic semester will result in the loss of the scholarship.
