Fund Type: Donor Advised
Regional Foundation: Greater Harrisburg Community Foundation
The Living Kindness Fund was inspired by Mary Cretu, whose life was defined by compassion, generosity, and showing up for others when they needed it most. Mary deeply believed in helping people—especially during life’s hardest moments—and lived that belief every day through quiet acts of care, love, and selflessness. This fund exists because Mary understood something deeply personal: even when someone is surrounded by family and friends, the journey through illness or caregiving can be overwhelming. And for many, there is no support system at all. Mary devoted herself to caring for her husband when he could not care for himself, even as she fought her own health battles. The Living Kindness Fund carries her legacy forward by being that support for others. Through partnership, The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC), The Living Kindness Fund gives to organizations that provide assistance to: Caregivers who are emotionally, physically, or financially exhausted and often suffer in silence while caring for others; Individuals facing cancer, offering support during treatment and recovery; Lung transplant patients whose illness was not caused by smoking, helping address both medical and emotional challenges. Through practical assistance, compassionate support, and acts of kindness, the Living Kindness Fund ensures that no one has to face illness or caregiving alone. Every act of support is a reflection of Mary’s belief that kindness should be lived—not just remembered. To learn more visit www.LivingKindnessFund.com.
