Mary Grace Shearer MSW / Scholarship for the Advancement of Social Work Fund

The Mary Grace Shearer MSW Scholarship for the Advancement of Social Work is established for students entering their junior or senior year of college majoring in social work at Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited bachelor’s degree program in selected counties in Pennsylvania. The eligible student would have at least a 3.0 GPA and financial need that the award could supplement. The scholarship is designed to recruit students who will promote the highest standards of professional social work by enhancing their knowledge base and skill levels.

Scholarship FAQ

Criteria

  1. Enrolled as a junior or senior in a four-year college or university as a full-time or part-time student 
  2. Attends a college or university that has a Social Work program accredited by the Council of Social Work Education in one of the following Pennsylvania Counties: Adams, Bedford, Blair, Centre, Clinton. Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lancaster, Lycoming, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Potter, Snyder, Sullivan, Tioga, Union, York 
  3. Student must have declared Social work as their major 
  4. Academic achievement, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher 
  5. Financial need 
  6. Essay
  7. Supplemental documents. This may include a resume, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), or other scholarship-specific documents. Specific requirements are noted in the application.

Essay

Renewability

Recipients of this scholarship may apply again for one additional year. Students must submit a full application but may be prompted to complete a different essay.
