Share the Story Behind Your Impact

 

One local nonprofit will receive a custom video to highlight its mission.

When nonprofits have the tools to share their impact, the entire community benefits. Through Stories That Serve, The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) and Wakeen & Company invest in building communication capacity that helps organizations attract support, deepen partnerships and inspire collective action across the region.

Stories That Serve helps local nonprofits share their impact through professional storytelling. One nonprofit located in and serving Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon or Perry Counties, as well as the Dillsburg area of York County, will be selected to receive a custom video package at no cost.

Applications are open through Monday, Nov. 17.

About Stories That Serve

The selected nonprofit will work with TFEC and Wakeen & Company to create one 4–5 minute video and one 30-second version optimized for digital use. Both videos will be designed to help the organization share its mission, connect with donors and partners, and highlight the positive change it brings to the community.

The nonprofit will have two rounds of revisions, with final video assets optimized for web and social media use.

Grant Eligibility
  • Applicants must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
  • Eligible nonprofits must be located in Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon or Perry Counties, or the Dillsburg area of York County
  • Eligible nonprofits must offer services to the residents of Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon or Perry Counties, or the Dillsburg area of York County
  • Eligible nonprofits must have an annual revenue of $2.5 million or less
Production Timeline

December

  • Nonprofit is selected and notified
  • The winner is announced to the public

January

  • Pre-production begins
  • Production date is confirmed

February

  • Video production (filming day)
  • Post-production editing begins

March

  • Delivery of the first cut and the revision process
  • Final video assets delivered
  • Video premiered at an in-person event
Branding and Call to Action

The nonprofit’s branding will be featured at the conclusion of the video with a call to action of its choice. Logos for Wakeen & Company and The Foundation for Enhancing Communities will appear on a separate final title card, ensuring all partners receive appropriate recognition.

Project Scope

The grant covers all major stages of video production, including:

  • One day of filming with a three to four-person crew
  • Professional sound, camera and lighting equipment
  • On-site creative direction and storytelling support

Production is limited to locations within TFEC’s service area or about a one-hour drive from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

What to Expect

The selected nonprofit should anticipate dedicating time and resources at each stage of the project to ensure a successful outcome.

Pre-Production

  • Participate in creative development discussions (about 1 hour)
  • Assist with scheduling and logistics (2–4 hours)
  • Collaborate on storyline development and identify participants for filming
  • Secure filming locations and provide access to staff, clients or community members

Production

  • Make staff available for a one-day on-site video shoot
  • Support coordination of participants and logistics on filming day
  • Obtain signed release forms for all participants appearing on camera

Post-Production

  • Provide timely feedback on two rounds of video edits (about 3 hours total)
  • Review organizational details, statistics and messaging for accuracy

Promotion and Engagement

  • Share and promote the finished video within your networks
  • Encourage attendance and participation in the premier event (the premier event will be planned and executed by the TFEC and Wakeen team)
