Joseph J. Cignetto and Jean I. Cignetto put down roots in Silver Spring Township in 1957. After the death of her husband in 1987, Jean I. Cignetto continued to reside in Silver Spring Township until her death on February 12, 2017, at the age of 96. After remembering various other worthy charities, the Last Will and Testament of Jean I. Cignetto directed the bulk of her estate to the Joseph J. and Jean I. Cignetto Charitable Fund. The goal of the fund is to support charitable, educational, scientific, and civic purposes, according to the Bylaws of the Foundation, with special emphasis upon specified health care organizations, abused women and children, first responders, persons with disabilities, and animal welfare organizations.
