Benjamin Pash Bloser Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was created on June 22, on Ben’s birthday; in his memory. Ben lost his life in a tragic car accident in 2011 at age 21. Ben excelled in cross-country and track. His senior year he received the Outstanding Athlete Award from Big Spring High School. Not only was he an outstanding athlete, but he was also known for his excellent sportsmanship. He always encouraged others to do their best. He was kind-hearted and fun loving and could always put a smile on your face.

The scholarship will be awarded to a Big Spring student who demonstrates similar characteristics. Through this scholarship, Ben’s memory will be kept alive and his dreams fulfilled.

Scholarship FAQs

Criteria

  1. Graduating senior from Big Spring High School  
  2. Attendance at a school of higher education or trade school, (either 2 year or 4 year) as a full-time student 
  3. Academic achievement, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher 
  4. Commitment to community and demonstrated leadership qualities 
  5. Extracurricular activities, including employment and/or volunteering 
  6. Displays excellent sportsmanship, perseverance, positive attitude, is a team player and encouraging of others    
  7. Must participate in 2 sports – one of which must include: Track or Cross Country  
  8. Financial need 
  9. Essay
  10. Supplemental documents. This may include a resume, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), or other scholarship-specific documents. Specific requirements are noted in the application.

Describe your current interests and activities, as well as sharing future goals and ambitions. 300 words maximum.

Renewability

Recipients of this scholarship may apply again for one additional consecutive year. Students must submit a full application but may be prompted to complete a different essay.
