Having been an educator his entire life, Dr. Rock only ever wanted to see others succeed in life. The Dr. Marshall H. Layton Memorial Scholarship was created in memory of Dr. Rock to support Harrisburg City students in efforts to continue their lifelong love of learning.

Criteria

  1. Financial Need 
  2. Graduating high school senior from the Harrisburg School District 
  3. Plans to attend any two-year or four-year college or university or trade school, attending as a full or part-time student 
  4. Applicants must show a desire for success and will be asked to write an essay to convey this. 
  5. Essay
  6. Supplemental documents. This may include a resume, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), or other scholarship-specific documents. Specific requirements are noted in the application.

Essay

Write a short (500 words or less) essay or creative piece (poem, short story, etc.) that responds to the following prompt: Express something you have struggled through that in some way showed you that you can succeed.

This scholarship is a one-time only award.
