Jack and Edna May Yost Scholarship

The Jack and Edna May Yost Scholarship Fund, an endowment fund of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, awards scholarships to graduating seniors of a Dauphin or Cumberland county high school who will attend a two or four-year accredited college. Preference will be given to children of postal employees; students who plan to major in nursing or education (with plans to teach) will also be given preference.

Scholarship FAQ

Criteria

  1. Graduating seniors of a Dauphin or Cumberland county high school 
  2. Plans to attend a two or four-year accredited college as a full-time student 
  3. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) 
  4. Must be able to demonstrate past or current community service and willingness to work to attain future goals 
  5. Preference is given to re-applicants; and to children of postal employees; and to students who plan to major in nursing, or education with plans to teach. Extra consideration is given to previous award recipients 
  6. Financial need 
  7. Essay 
  8. Supplemental documents. This may include a resume, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), or other scholarship-specific documents. Specific requirements are noted in the application.

Essay

Describe how you will continue your community involvement during your college years. Essay should be titled, 300 words maximum.

Renewability

Recipients of this scholarship may apply again for up to three additional consecutive years. Students must submit a full application but may be prompted to complete a different essay.
