Justin Boose Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Justin Boose Memorial Scholarship Fund of Perry County Community Foundation, a regional foundation of TFEC, supports one male graduating senior of West Perry High School planning to attend a two or four year college as a full time student.

This scholarship fund was established in memory and honor of Justin. Justin Boose was a 2008 graduate of West Perry High School where he was involved in football, wrestling and track and field.  Justin loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns fan.  Justin was in a motor vehicle accident in 2007, which changed his life in many ways.  His spirit of determination was instrumental in helping him as he underwent many years of therapies and medical difficulties.

Criteria

  1. A male graduating senior of West Perry High School planning to attend a two or four year college as a full time student 
  2. Involvement in sports or other extracurricular activity in addition to their academic curriculum 
  3. Preference will be given to a graduate who is entering a healthcare profession, such as nursing, medicine, physical, occupational or speech therapy, or other related service profession or special education. 
  4. Minimum GPA of 3.0 
  5. Financial need 
  6. Essay
  7. Supplemental documents. This may include a resume, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), or other scholarship-specific documents. Specific requirements are noted in the application.

Essay

Justin had a true spirit of determination as he worked hard to achieve the best he could in his personal life, school, and sports. After his accident, that determination was even more important as he engaged in therapies to improve his quality of life. In a personal essay of 200 -250 words, reflect on how perseverance in sports, extracurricular activities, and academics has helped you achieve success in life in general. How do you see this determination as a factor for you as you strive to achieve your goals of helping others in your chosen profession?   

The essay should be titled.250 words maximum.
