Skyler James Wenger Scholarship

The Skyler James Wenger Scholarship was established in 2012 by his mother in memory of her son. Skyler was a freshman at Cedar Cliff when he lost his life at the age of 14 on October 28th, 2011 of injuries sustained being hit by a car during trick-or-treat. He was a loving son who was devoted to his family, a loyal friend to many, active in his youth group, and an avid football and baseball player. Skyler was an all-around nice kid everyone liked to be around. In death, Skyler gave the gift of life. He saved and improved the lives of at least 7 people.

Criteria

  1. Graduating senior from Cedar Cliff High School or Red Land High School 
  2. Plans to attend any 2 or 4 year college, university, or trade school as a full-time student 
  3. Come from a single-parent household 
  4. Be an athlete  
  5. Financial need 
  6. Essay
  7. Supplemental documents. This may include a resume, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), or other scholarship-specific documents. Specific requirements are noted in the application.

Tell us about yourself, including the following: advantages/challenges of a single parent household, a challenge you’ve overcome and how, the role sports play in your life, why continuing education is important, and goals for your future. Approximately 500 words.
