The Emerging Philanthropist Program (EPP), a joint project between The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) and Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP), is pleased to announce a new grant opportunity. In 2017, the EPP program will focus on eliminating root causes of poverty by building human capital to better stabilize the community. To address this mission, EPP invites nonprofit organizations serving Harrisburg City and the surrounding geographic areas to apply for a one-time grant of $5000. These organizations must provide programs that work to assist individuals 18 and older to increase self-sufficiency. Eligible programs may include, but are not limited to, mentoring, workforce development and career building, financial literacy, and parenting classes.

Proposed projects may take place at any time during the grant year beginning January 1, 2018 and ending December 31, 2018. Applicants must either be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or have a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization act as a fiscal sponsor for the proposed project. Applications must be submitted by August 1, 2017 and notification of grant awards will be made in Fall 2017. The Emerging Philanthropist Program (EPP) is a joint project of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) and Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP). TFEC and HYP have partnered together to provide an opportunity for emerging leaders in the Harrisburg community to become actively engaged with the power of philanthropy, and is in its fourth year. The Emerging Philanthropists Program seeks to engage Harrisburg’s emerging business and community leaders with the great possibilities that lie within philanthropic endeavors in Harrisburg. The program will help emerging philanthropists answer questions such as: What does it mean to be philanthropic? How do I understand the needs of our community?; and What can I do to make an impact? The Emerging Philanthropists Program will provide resources and educational opportunities for Harrisburg’s developing leaders who wish to be actively engaged in giving back to their community.
